ACTING FOR SCREEN

The LAB Workshops in collaboration with Mann Bros. Media.

The LAB Workshops provide each participant with three intense 7-hour workshops dedicated to Acting for Screen, a premium showreel scene, a personalised headshot session and a bespoke voice reel.
The Workshop

Immersing participants into the world of TV and Film, this course has been designed for actors to refine their craft whilst collaborating with professionals working within the industry. With an aim to maximise on-screen time and deliver a comprehensive package that is specifically tailored to the participant, The LAB Workshops and Mann Bros. Media are offering actors an exclusive opportunity to get ahead in the industry within a very short space of time.

This course will be offering a week’s intensive of screen tests, professional guest speakers and self-tape advice with the participant’s receiving daily homework tasks to work on. All footage will be shot with high-grade and industry standard equipment with participants receiving extensive on-screen time.

What You Get

WORKSHOP

Three 7-hour intensive workshops, with maximum on-screen time, led by director and the LAB founder Simon Paris.

SHOWREEL SCENE

A fully edited and graded scene, originally written by our resident writer Josh King.

HEADSHOT

One edited, high resolution headshot, shot by our professional photographer Greg Veit.

VOICE-REEL

One 2 minute mixed and mastered voice-reel for websites such as Spotlight, Mandy and other casting websites, recorded by our voice-reel director Luciano Verghini.

Mann Bros. are an award-winning media outfit specialising in creative video production for music, theatre, film and broadcast TV - incorporating filming, post-production and design services.

CREATIVES

The LAB Workshop's crew is made up of professional creatives working in the industry.

Simon Paris
Creative Director / Facilitator

Simon is the Creative Director & Facilitator of The LAB Workshops since it's inception in 2017. Being passionate about working with actors, Simon has explored directing in both the Film and Theatre industry and has facilitated each of The LAB Workshops series.

Ben Mann
Director / Producer

Ben is a director, producer and actor, constantly honing his craft both in front and behind the camera. With Mann Bros., he brings a wealth of knowledge and experience in the world of acting and film to the LAB Workshops.

Timothy Mann
Director of Photography

Tim has worked for over 10 years in the TV and film industry as a video editor and cinematographer. He manages the technical workflow from capturing, editing, to grading and delivery.

Josh King
Writer

Josh is a screen, play and fiction writer who started working with the Lab Workshops in July 2018. Josh tailor-makes showreel and voicereel scenes for each actor, and is looking forward to creating more material to be brought to life.

Louise Goodfield
Assistant Producer

Louise Goodfield is a professional actor, spoken word artist and producer. Having completed the first Acting for Screen workshops in May 2018, Louise is incredibly keen to share such an opportunity to fellow actors across London and to aid the development of the workshops with the actors experience and career development at the heart of what is offered.

Greg Veit
Photographer

Greg has been a photographer in London for over ten years and specialises in actors headshots and theatre photography. Over the years he has taken headshots for countless actors and models of all ages from all areas of the industry. He has worked at the National Theatre South Bank, the Barbican and Southwark Playhouse and major drama schools including Italia Conti, Mountfield Academy, RADA and the Guildford School of Acting.

Luciano Verghini
Voice Reel Producer

Luciano has over 10 years experience of playing and working in the music industry. As a guitarist he has been signed to Cavern Records, been a member of function bands, a Queen tribute band and depping for variety of signed artists in genres ranging from Jazz to Indie. He studied Music and Music Technology at Liverpool Hope University and holds a PGCE in Music from Manchester Metropolitan University.

The Bunker Theatre
Venue

The Bunker is London's newest Off-West End theatre housed in a former underground parking garage in London Bridge. The space has been transformed from its original abandoned state into a unique 110-seater studio theatre.The Bunker believes in theatre with purpose: We provide ambitious artists a home in which to share their work with adventurous audiences. Our audiences and artists are at the forefront of the work we are interested in. We champion each piece in The Bunker and we want the stage filled with exciting and exhilarating contemporary theatre.
